World War II veteran,
"1000 Pesos"
note that was issued in 1945 by the Japanese for the occupied Philippine Islands.
The Japanese bombed the Philippines the same day they bombed Pearl Harbor. December 7, 1942,

. They landed troops in the Philippines on December 10. Manila was taken January 2, Bataan fell April 9, and finally Corregidor on May 6, forcing General MacArthur's famous
"I Shall Return"
statement when he left. He did return, and these notes soon became worthless.

These were not issued until after the return of the U.S. forces and the Japanese were scuttling out of Manila and then completely out of the Philippines.

The Note:
It has a single serious edge tear at the top centerfold, no other tears or holes. It has been folded vertically but not horizontally and retains a good amount of crispness. A piece of quickly fading World War II history. The note will be sent in a new currency holder that protects it. As grading is subjective, please see the pictures and judge for yourself.
